HANGING GLOBE LAMP

MATERIAL

Dismantled globes, preferably the ones with a plastic sphere.
Use as many or as few as you like.

As many lamp sockets as you have globes and twice as many strain reliefs.

A most important part is the ceiling cup, you can buy these ready made with one or more holes, or you can make it yourself. I used an old aluminium lid and a recycled bit of a discarted pendant light.

DIY

 Step 1

Cut away Antarctica at about 60° South.

Drill one or two holes some milimeters away from the edge and cut away the bottom with a small metal saw blade. Stay clear of the printed globe foil.

Trim the rough edges with a box cutter. Do this nice and slowly.
!BOX CUTTERS ARE VERY SHARP SO IT'S BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY!

Step 2

Place the lamp fittings. Depending on the size of the hole in the globe you'll use a strain relief or collar ring to fix the fitting to the sphere. Use 2 core cable 1,5 mm2.

If the strain relief doesn't fit you can simply drill out the hole with a 10mm metal drill.

Use the strain relief to fix the lenght of the cable.
You can hang them in a bunch at the same height or as I did, in different levels where they don't touch each other.
